With a location in one of downtown Los Angeles' busiest spots, the Olympic West parking structure was built to accommodate over 2,500 vehicles for event attendees at the Staples Center, Los Angeles Convention Center, and various other events in the surrounding area. Woven metal fabric from Cambridge Architectural offers a modern, streamlined barrier between the street-level garage interior and the neighboring sidewalk.
The Cambridge Parkade™ system employs striking panels of architectural mesh to screen the structure in an industrially chic way, exuding ultimate urban appeal.
Functional
The Parkade metal fabric system offered a turnkey solution for the Olympic West parking structure. It was designed to completely cover and protect the building's open spaces on the street level without negatively affecting ventilation or visual transparency. The architectural mesh pattern delivers lasting security and strength, as it is an impenetrable cladding that at the same time allows passersby to look through it. Meanwhile, the open yet closed nature of the mesh facilitates airflow while defining space.
Affordable
Cambridge worked very closely with the Olympic West project team to develop a metal fabric system that not only delivered solutions, but delivered those solutions on budget. Attached in tension, Parkade applications combine superior aesthetics with high-quality performance, eliminating the need for additional materials. In the Olympic West parking structure, the virtual indestructibility and lifecycle of the mesh facade reduces maintenance costs, and eliminates the need for replacement materials. Additionally, Cambridge's metal fabric panels were specifically engineered to fit the structure's street-level openings, ensuring a successful and issue-free installation.
Sustainable
Cambridge's Parkade stainless steel mesh system was a natural choice for the bustling downtown Los Angeles setting. Located next to both the Nokia Theatre and the Staples Center, the mesh panels hold up extremely well in these high-traffic areas, and will maintain their pristine look for many years to come.
